‘Ange is definitely the right man’ – Gareth Bale urges Spurs to back Postecoglou

Gareth Bale has leapt to the defence of Ange Postecoglou, stating that the Australian was a victim of his own early success at Tottenham and insisting that he is the right man to take the club where they want to be.

Even though Tottenham had a poor end to the season and missed out on Champions League qualification, it is clear that Postecoglou has the backing of the majority of the Spurs fan base.

Even in the defeats that Spurs suffered at the hands of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City recently, there were certainly plenty of promising signs, which suggested that the Lilywhites might not be as far away from those sides as it might appear in the table.

According to various reports over the last few months, the 58-year-old still very much has the backing of the Tottenham hierarchy, who are expected to back him heavily once again this summer with a huge transfer kitty so that he can put his own imprint on the squad (Football Transfers).

Bale is convinced that Postecoglou is the right man for the job and insisted that Tottenham will be a force next season if they make a couple of smart additions this summer.

The Welshman told The Independent about his former club: “I think they’ve had a very successful season. The biggest problem was that they started so well and the expectation went too much and too soon. It was a bit unfair. Ange has done an incredible job. Losing Harry (Kane) was going to be a massive loss, the amount of goals you lose.

“So to be able to finish higher than in previous seasons speaks massive volumes of how well the manager has done. He has also got them playing the Tottenham way.

“I went back again this season and it was very enjoyable to watch. Ange is definitely the right man for the job. “If they can have a great transfer window this summer, which I’m sure they will, they’ll be in a better place next season.”

Fans and pundits often tend to overestimate how far ahead some teams are of other sides and they tend to underestimate how big an impact a couple of top-class additions can make.

If Spurs can have a similar window to the one they had last summer and add a couple of world-class players to the squad, we could see the side improve exponentially.
