‘Successful surgery’ – Tottenham defender reveals he has undergone operation
Tottenham Hotspur defender Alfie Dorrington has revealed that he has successfully undergone surgery on his hamstring.
The central defender suffered the injury to his right hamstring back in January and was expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks having undergone scans to assess the grade of tear (Football.London).
Dorrington had been a regular on the Tottenham first-team bench between November and mid-January with the North Londoners having suffered a shortage of fit central defenders as a result of Micky van de Ven’s own hamstring issue (transfermarkt).
Cruelly, his own hamstring injury curtailed his involvement among Ange Postecoglou’s squad until he returned to training with the first team in March but was not recalled to the bench by the Australian with further defensive depth having been added with the arrival of Radu Dragusin from Genoa during the winter window (Football.London).

The 19-year-old took to Instagram to post a photo of himself in a hospital bed along with the caption: “Successful surgery. Disappointing way to end a great season, but I’ll be back stronger.”

Hamstring injuries have been an issue for Tottenham this season with Dorrington, van de Ven and Ryan Sessegnon having been among those to have spent time on the sidelines with muscular problems.
The adaptation to Postecoglou’s intense methods may have been a surprise to the bodies of some of the Tottenham squad, hopefully, with another full pre-season under their belts the club can avoid some of the issues suffered this season.
Dorrington may have been one of the academy crop who had been included for the post-season fixture in Australia against Newcastle United had he been fit and will now look to return ahead of next season instead.
