Spurs half-time player ratings vs Sheffield United – Second goal needed

Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United.

Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break currently 1-0 ahead courtesy of Dejan Kulusevski’s neat finish.

Guglielmo Vicario: Showed good reactions to deny Brereton Diaz from close range after ten minutes. 6.

Pedro Porro: Played an inch-perfect cross into the path of Romero which should have been an assist. Had a shot looked to be arrowing into the bottom corner only for Foderingham to get a big hand to it 6.

Cristian Romero: Will be disappointed not to be on the scoresheet after he failed to finish Porro’s cross. 6.

Radu Dragusin: A misplaced header inside the opening five minutes gifted Brereton Diaz a shot on goal which he thankfully blasted over the bar. Settled into the game and had a nice maurauding run forward before the break. 6.

Micky van de Ven: Did well to win the ball back in the build-up to Kulusevski’s opener and has looked very comfortable down the left. 7.

Pape Matar Sarr: A comfortable 45 minutes for the young midfielder with the Blades causing no issues. 6.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Has played as the holding midfielder an has had plenty of space on the ball. 6.

James Maddison: His side-footed effort from outside of the box came back off the post. Should have scored when Son played him through and maybe should have looked to chip the keeper. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: Finshed well back across the goalkeeper to open the scoring. Could have had a second on the twenty-minute mark but his shot was too close to the keeper. 7.

Heung-min Son: Denied by a smart save by Foderingham. Played a smart pass for Maddison’s second chance. 6.

Brennan Johnson: Has done well in posession and had plenty of space down the right. 6.
