Why on earth has the publication of the retained list prompted people to speculate on what the starting XI will be, 12 weeks before we kick a ball in the league?
There’s very little surprises in what we’ve learned today.
We were always facing a massive overhaul and it’s barely started.

Because we now know that certain players definitely won't be here next season and other players (like Anderson, Juke, Ruddy) will be, so that makes people think about what that means to our possible starting 11, as they will do with every player we sell or buy through the summer. Not sure why this is hard to understand.
