Report: Tottenham do not want to pay £60m asking price for striker this summer

GiveMeSport have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are not prepared to meet Brentford’s huge asking price for Ivan Toney.

Toney has a year left in his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium and while it is clear that he is on his way out of the club, it remains to be seen where he moves to.

Various reports over the last few weeks have continued to link the centre-forward with a move to Spurs, with the Lilywhites thought to be competing with the likes of Chelsea and West Ham for the 27-year-old (TBR Football).

Tottenham not willing to meet Ivan Toney price tag

GiveMeSport have claimed that Spurs do want to add a number nine to their squad this summer as Richarlison is expected to be sold.

The report says that a move for Toney ‘is still a possibility’ for Ange Postecoglou’s men but only if the operation is within their budget.

The publication alleges that the Bees have quoted Spurs a price of £60m for their marksman, which Tottenham have no intention of paying.

Spurs Web Opinion

In the current financial landscape with PSR being enforced strictly by the Premier League, I doubt any club would be prepared to pay £60m for a player with a year left on his contract. Brentford would likely be forced to bring their asking price down to around £40m-£50m.
