Journalist Dean Jones has said that he cannot see Crystal Palace cashing in on Adam Wharton this summer after beating out competition from Tottenham Hotspur to land the midfielder in January.
Wharton has been a revelation since his move from Blackburn Rovers to Selhurst Park in January, with the 20-year-old showing maturity beyond his years in the heart of the Saints midfield.
Just months on from his move to the Eagles, there is already speculation that the youngster could be set for a switch to a bigger Premier League side.
A few days ago, TBR Football claimed that Tottenham, Liverpool, Man Utd and Newcastle are all keeping an eye on Wharton’s progress while Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have also checked on the Englishman.
The publication added that having paid £22m for Wharton in January, Crystal Palace chief Steve Parish would ‘find it very hard’ to reject a deal that could see them more than double their money for a player in just six months.

However, Jones has now suggested that there is very little chance that Oliver Glasner’s men would let the former Blackburn man leave, having successfully gambled on him in January.
When asked about the speculation over the midfielder’s future, Jones told Ranks FC Ultras Podcast: “I can’t see Wharton leaving yet, especially after Palace put faith in him.
“They put the money there in Jan. Tottenham were going to do that deal this summer coming up, but they were beaten to it because he was taken there and then.”

It would make no sense for Palace to cash in on Wharton now as his market value is only likely to go up in the next year or two. I also cannot see the 20-year-old demanding a move, given that he is playing regularly at the South London club.
