Jacob Jackson signs with San Jose Earthquakes

FOXBOROUGH, MA– Former New England Revolution goalkeeper Jacob Jackson has been claimed off of waivers by the San Jose Earthquakes.

He will occupy a senior roster slot.

The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club officially claimed Jacob Jackson, formerly of the New England Revolution, off waivers.

“Jacob is a young, talented player with MLS experience,” said Earthquakes general manager Chris Leitch. “We’re looking forward to him competing in our goalkeeper group this year.”

Jacob Jackson, 24, was selected by the New England Revolution 24th overall in first round of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.

Jackson made 26 appearances for the New England Revolution II across two seasons. He won MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month in May of 2022.

At the first team level, he made his MLS debut in October of 2023 in a 3-2 loss versus Nashville SC. He then made his home debut a week later, where he recorded his first career win in a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union. He has 3 career MLS appearances.

Internationally, Jackson has never made an appearance for the United States.

At the club level, Jackson has played 34 career games (3,079 minutes). In career numbers, the goalkeeper has allowed 55 career goals against while securing 9 career clean sheets. He has received 2 yellow cards in his career.

Jacob Jackson looks to have a fresh start with San Jose, who are currently struggling in the Western Conference. The San Jose Earthquakes (1-1-8, 4 pts.) are off to San Fransisco, California to face Western Conference side Los Angeles FC (4-3-3, 15 pts). The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, May 4th.

Caleb Porter and the New England Revolution (1-1-7, 4 pts.) head out to Chicago, Illinois England to face Eastern Conference side Chicago Fire FC (2-4-4, 10 pts.).
