'I was happy': Rasmus Hojlund praises 'amazing' United star performing at 'top level'

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has heaped praise on captain Bruno Fernandes who has been performing at a ‘top level’ during the current season.

Fernandes has been United’s best creative player for the past four years and he has continued to impress this term with 15 goals and 11 assists from 44 outings.

His form has been exceptional in April with seven goals and two assists and speaking to BBC’s Match of the Day, Hojlund spoke fondly about the Portuguese.

The Dane said: “I was happy for him because he’s also getting a lot of criticism. It’s not fair because he’s doing everything top-level all the time, and he’s an amazing captain.”

United have had a poor run since the international break. They have won just one of the previous five league games and are almost out of Champions League contention.

Despite this, the club have plenty to play for. They have the chance to build a winning run over the coming weeks to qualify for Europa League football next season.

The Red Devils also have an FA Cup final against Manchester City later next month.

Hence, the season is far from over for the Mancunian giants. Fernandes has been leading from the front in recent weeks. The fans will be hoping that he can continue his superb form.

The Portuguese will need help from his teammates in the final third. Hojlund ended his mini-goal drought last weekend and now has the chance to go on another scoring streak.

United welcome Burnley to Old Trafford in Saturday’s afternoon kick-off. The Clarets have been a bogey club for the Red Devils in the past, but they should comfortably beat them.
