Fabrizio Romano says Spurs would have to pay around £60m for Serie A star

Fabrizio Romano says that while Gleison Bremer’s release clause will only be active in 2025, Juventus will listen to offers for the rumoured Tottenham target this summer.

Even though Tottenham signed Radu Dragusin in January to compete with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, and Ben Davies has also shown that he can do a job centrally, the club are still expected to enter the market for a centre-back in the summer.

This was confirmed by Ange Postecoglou himself, who said earlier this month that the Lilywhites will look to strengthen that area of the pitch when the transfer window opens in the summer, stating that they need competition for places to compete on multiple fronts next season (Football.London).

Bremer is thought to be one of the names on Spurs’ wishlist, with HITC claiming a couple of days ago that the North London club are one of several Premier League sides eyeing a move for the Brazilian.

The report added that the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle are also keen on the 27-year-old and stated that the centre-back has a release clause of over £50m in his contract.

Gleison Bremer release clause cannot be activated this summer

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the release clause is thought to be worth around €60m-€70m (£51.2m-£60m). However, the journalist explained that the clause will not be active until the summer of 2025.

He did give Spurs and other suitors some hope in their pursuit of Bremer by stating that the Bianconeri have a pact with the former Torino man to consider offers of a similar amount this summer.

Bremer has been a long-term target for Tottenham, having been on the club’s radar since his Torino days. However, it would make no sense for Spurs to spend over £50m on another centre-half when we are arguably in more desperate need of top-quality additions in midfield and in the wide areas.
