How time at K-State prepared Boye-Doe and Anudike-Uzomah for football's biggest stage

LAS VEGAS (KSNT) - The Chiefs have developed a standard of winning as the team enters its fourth Super Bowl in five seasons.

This year's KC team includes two former Kansas State Wildcats who are hoping to win back-to-back championships in their own way. Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Ekow Boy-Doe both helped K-State win a Big 12 title in 2022 and now are chasing another trophy.

""Kansas State- we started winning culture there but this is a different level," Anudike-Uzomah said on Thursday. "They don't take anything other than success. Just being a part of that made me learn how to move in a way to be more successful."

Boye-Doe says the underdog mentality, and sometimes being overlooked, is a mindset he developed in Manhattan and keeps with him in Kansas City.

"Usually we get a bunch of kids that are under-recruited and that just comes with having a chip on your shoulder," Boye-Doe said. "You're always going to work hard, you're never going to give up. You've always been doubted all your life. Having that extra chip on your shoulder just keeps you motivated."

He says the expectations are high with both football teams.

"We don't really put up with any extra stuff," he said. "We're kind of just all about hard work... the values of the teams really speak values of how we're a Super Bowl team and how we won the Big 12."

Anudike-Uzomah could see more snaps than usual on Sunday due to defensive end Charles Omenihu's injury in the AFC title game. The Chiefs and 49ers kickoff at 5:30 p.m. CT on Sunday.
