‘Open’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts the score for Tottenham vs Brighton
Looking ahead to the weekend’s action in the Premier League, Mark Lawrenson has backed Brighton and Hove Albion to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points in what he predicts will be a ‘really open’ game.
Tottenham go into the game on a four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, most recently drawing against Everton and defeating Brentford in the midweek fixture last week.
The Lilywhites’ last defeat, however, came at the hands of Saturday’s opponents Brighton. That game ended in a 4-2 win for the Seagulls, but Ange Postecoglou will be hoping home advantage can make all the difference this time around.
Brighton, meanwhile, are on a rollercoaster run of results of late. A 4-1 hammering of local rivals Crystal Palace last weekend was preceded by a 4-0 defeat against Luton, and a 5-2 win over Sheffield United in the FA Cup.
Watching Brighton may be an unpredictable experience right now, but one thing’s for sure, goals usually follow Roberto De Zerbi’s side wherever they go.
Will Brighton do the double over Spurs?
In his regular column for Paddy Power, Mark Lawrenson predicts another exciting game that will be good for the neutrals, but he believes Spurs fans will be the unhappy ones on Saturday.
He said: “Brighton hammered Crystal Palace in the so-called M23 derby so they’ll be flying. This will be a really open, good game of football to watch. It’s about time Brighton won an away game and I fancy them to do just that here.”
Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Brighton.
Spurs Web Opinion
I agree we should be in for a very open, very interesting game of football, but I think the result might be the reverse of Lawrenson’s prediction. Brighton are an incredibly difficult opponent to play against, as we saw last time we played them, but we have a lot of players back now who can help us get revenge.
