Manchester United agreed to sign Amad from Atalanta for a transfer fee in the region of €40m in the winter of 2021 and since his arrival, he has made only three Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

 

Amad signed a season-long loan deal with Sunderland this season in the hope of regular first-team football and has thrived in Black Cats’ colours under Tony Mowbray.

 

 

On Saturday, Amad put in an impressive performance against Millwall with a second half goal in Sunderland’s 3-0 win and impressed former Black Cats forward Elliott.

 

Elliott stated that the winger is now demonstrating why Manchester United paid a high price for him and praised the player’s recent performances.

 

 

The ex-Sunderland star believes that when Amad is in his element, very few teams in the Championship are able to handle him and is confident that the 20-year-old will be playing for Manchester United next season.

 

“Amad Diallo is showing exactly why Manchester United invested so much in him”, Elliott wrote in his Sunderland Echo column.

 

 

“The little winger is electric and when he is in the mood there aren’t gonna be many in the Championship who will live with him [sic].

 

“He got on the scoresheet again and could have had more.

 

“I think Sunderland fans need to enjoy him as much as they can because I believe he will be playing in his parent clubs’ team next season.”

 

Amad will be hoping that his performances this season will impress Erik Ten Hag enough to get him into Manchester United manager’s plans for next season.
