[Football] Five Football Falcons earn spot on CSC Academic All-District list
WICHITA, Kan. –Five Friends University Football student-athletes have received College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic-All District recognition, the organization has announced.
The five selections for the Falcons is tied for second within the KCAC.
Academic All-District winners now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first- and second-team Academic-All-America honorees set to be announced in late December.
The Football Falcons CSC Academic All-District selections are listed below:
Waylon Chance (SR/Valley Center, Kan.)
* Gave the Falcons a potent 1-2 RB duo along with leading rusher Zach Dressler (JR/Douglass, Kan. )
* Finished first on the team with 8.8 yards per carry and second in rushing yards (490)
* Was also third in receptions (five) and receiving yards (92)
* Contributed on both sides of the ball in 2021 after seeing time at safety
* Has also earned both NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete honors
Jett Cheatham (SO/Enid, Okla.)
* Ranked fifth on the team in all-purpose yards per game (40.7)
* Ranked 13th in the KCAC with 201 kickoff return yards for the season
* Had a career-high 48 yards rushing in the Falcons' big 42-7 homecoming victory over Sterling
Laken Clowdus (JR/Bartlesville, Okla.)
* Despite missing time with injury, recorded 147 rushing yards as part of the new flexbone attack
* Earned All-KCAC honorable-mention honors last year after ranking eighth in the league in rushing yards (686)
* Epitome of a student-athlete, was a CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-American last season
* Also earned both NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete honors
Jack Mullen (JR/Overland Park, Kan.)
* Served as the team's primary starting QB and helped the team to its most wins since 2017
* Rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns in the Falcons' new flex-bone offense
* Also passed for 455 yards and four TDs
* A solid student-athlete that is both an NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete recipient
Tucker Trevett (SR/Wichita, Kan.)
* Recorded a team-high two sacks this season for the Falcons
* Had 10 tackles overall, including eight solo stops
* Also an NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete honoree
