Tottenham’s FA Cup record beaten by sixth-tier side
Kettering Town have now overtaken Tottenham Hotspur as the club with the most goals in FA Cup history, the competition’s official social media account has confirmed.
The FA Cup is the oldest competition in the world and is arguably the most prestigious domestic cup competition in the game.
Tottenham have an illustrious history in the competition that few clubs in the English footballing pyramid can match, with the Lilywhites having won the competition on eight separate occasions.
When Spurs last won the Cup in 1991, they held the record for most wins, but they have since been overtaken by both Arsenal and Manchester United while Chelsea and Liverpool have equaled their record of 8 (Statista).
Until Saturday, the Lilywhites also held the record for the most goals in the competition’s history but their record was surpassed by an unlikely team – Kettering Town.
Kettering, who play in the National League North, the sixth tier of English football, beat Barewell 4-1 away from home on Saturday, which means that the non-league club have now scored 908 goals in the competition – two more than Spurs have registered.

The reason behind this is probably that Kettering Town have played a lot more FA Cup matches than Spurs have over the years, with the North London club, like other Premier League sides, entering the competition only in the third round.
