Rashford returns, Elanga in squad: early team news for Granada game
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been declared fit to play against Granada in the Europa League later this week.
The English international missed training on Tuesday, but returned today and has been named in United’s squad.
Juan Mata and Alex Telles have also recovered from their respective injuries and are in the travelling party.
The surprise addition to the squad is teenage star Anthony Elanga, who has been named as one of the forwards alongside Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Rashford.
Anthony Martial sustained a knee injury during the international break and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had indicated that he may miss the remainder of the season.
With Rashford also dealing with frequent injuries, Elanga may get some playing time in the all-important contest on Thursday.
The Swedish striker, who had penned a long-term contract with the club last month, has recovered from the collarbone injury that kept him on the sidelines recently.
He has scored six league goals in 12 games for United’s U23 team this season and is expected to be one of the future stars for the club.
Realistically, the Europa League trophy is the only one which United can win this season.
Solskjaer has been under the spotlight for the past couple of years for his inability to win a trophy, and the Norwegian has a lot riding on the upcoming fixture.
