UCC roll on in RUSTLERS IUFU Harding Cup
UCC, beaten in last year’s final, topped the charts with a comfortable eight goal win over Mary Immaculate College.
Keith White and Mark Lynes bagged a brace a piece with Dylan Scott, David Nason, Patrick Crowley and Michael Carroll completing the total.
Maynooth University also found their touch in front of goal and they managed to hit four goals past NUI Galway to progress into the last four.
Liam Berry’s two fine efforts had the Co Kildare side in front by half time and further goals from Luke O’Neill and Seamus Curley stretched the lead before Ciaran Daffan responded with a late consolation goal for Galway.
There won’t be a repeat of last year’s success for Trinity College as they bowed out after a 2-0 defeat to UCD. An own goal from Sean Holland and Dara Keane’s perfectly placed free kick had the Belfield side in cruise control throughout.
University of Limerick will be hoping to alleviate the pain of their Collingwood Cup Final defeat with success in this competition and hit the ground running against DCU. Ed O’Dwyer struck in both halves to place them into the semi-finals.
Wednesday’s semi-finals will see UL take on Maynooth and UCD clash with UCC ahead of Thursday’s final.
