How Many Points Do We Need for the Playoffs?

At the end of January, what previous seasons "looks like" this season? How did those seasons finish up? And, from that forward looking analysis - how many points are required for 6th place?

Well it would appear that seasons 2012-2014 have a similar average and spread of points amongst the top 8 teams, with 2012 the most similar. On that basis we need between 68 and 75 points to finish in 6th place.

At the end of January we had 34 points after 28 games. Meaning we needed 41 points from the remaining 18 games to get to 75 points (2012 table). Since then we have had the victory over Blackburn setting a new target of 38 points from 17 games which is 2.24 points per match. That's....difficult

However if you are one of the life's optimists :wave: then we only need to get to 68 points (2013 table). Which is 31 points from 17 matches = 1.82 points per match :bound:
