Just seen the supposed red card offence. I know there will be technical reasons and referee rules books, that people will quote, for it to be a valid reason for it.
From the view and slow motion, I have just watched, it was a hard tackle, but he got the whole of the ball and was strong in going for a 50/50 ball, that he won. At the most a free kick and possibly a yellow card (depending on referee), should have been awarded, if that.
Basing it on watching football for 45 years, as a supporter, the game is going soft, that was not a sending off and certainly wouldn't have been up until the last couple of years. in my view. I expect the experts to disagree though
