A new look City squad started the season off with a trophy away to league champions Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium.
Darragh Markey’s first-half goal coming from a James McClean cross sealed victory although City could’ve scored more on the night with Josh Thomas, Adam O’Reilly and Kevin dos Santos all going close.
