MLS Schedule and Conference Alignment Change

The Athletic seems to indicate changes are highly likely. A 5 conference alignment with 6 teams each has potential. Playing home and away matches within conference and one match against the rest totals 34 matches. They will need to figure out a suitable playoff format. OK.
Changing to a “ European” schedule causes me concern. It would result in more late season matches and fewer in May and June. ( 2025 matches after 11-20 totaled 7 but 2026 projected at 60,
