We're closing in on five months without a CSO

We're closing in on five months without a CSO and there doesn't seem to be much noise about what's to come.
I wasn't thinking too much about this until Buzz noted in the SKCII thread that we've got a lot of positions going unfilled as we wait for the person who will make such decisions to be hired.

Problems we face:
We have an interim manager, and it is fairly clear that he will not have done enough to earn the job on a permanent basis. I don't think he's been bad, but you don't get the job...
