Thomas Wagner Personal Account

So , i have just been making comments on Facebook re our unbeaten home record and it was liked by the above mentioned. I was then sent a facebook messenger where TW thanked me for being a loyal supporter etc. Surprisingly his account only has 95 followers, so when i showed it to my son he said it is an AI generated scam. Two questions. One why bother?, 2 is he right?
