'White Lotus' star Aimee Lou Wood calls 'SNL' parody 'mean and unfunny'

The White Lotusstar Aimee Lou Wood is not laughing at Saturday Night Live's send-up of the HBO hit that included a parody of her character, Chelsea, played by Sarah Shermanin a set of very pronounced fake teeth. "I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny," Wood wrote in a series of Instagram Stories posts about the sketch, which aired during last night's episode. "Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago," she wrote on another slide. "Yes, take the piss for sure — that's what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?" The sketch, titled "The White Potus," portrayed various members of the Trump family and their political allies as White Lotus–esque characters. James Austin Johnson played a despondent President Donald Trump, akin to Jason Isaacs' Timothy Ratliff, as Chloe Fineman took on Parker Posey's show accent to play Melania Trump.
