2024 was a lot of things. It was challenging, arduous, and tiresome, but it was unforgettable and unlike any other we have lived through. There were plenty of good films, enough to put together a list of ones that stood out, and, alongside others, I feel it is best to release what I consider to be the best of the year or the most memorable. I do caution there are plenty I have not seen, which will be listed at the bottom, but I am thankful to have no glaring Oscar blindspots.A Different Man – Dir: Aaron SchimbergPerhaps one of the biggest surprises of the year is Schimberg’s dark comedy of identity, external beauty, and what jealousy (either real or imagined) does to people. Sebastian Stan is great in the lead, but it is really Adam Pearson who is the true heart and soul of the film overall. It’s true message about not judging those on the outside and attempting to understand why people turn into the problematic individuals they are, which is expertly executed through the second act. I...
