MUMBAI: The Indian hockey team’s Olympic medal-winning performances -- back-to-back bronze medals in the 2021 and 2024 Games-- have revived the hopes of the hockey fans in the country, including former stalwarts of the game who witnessed years of underachievement following India’s maiden World Cup title 50 years ago in 1975.

Spring Youth Tour Rosters
Field Hockey is excitedly looking forward to our three upcoming spring youth tours. Field Hockey Canada is sending three youth women’s tours to Europe in April and May. First out the door will be a U16 team headed to Hradec Králové, Czechia, coached by Lacey McLauchlan and Andrea Gibson. This tour will run from April 13-21. It will be a busy airport departure lounge as simultaneously, a U18 team led by Mike Van Iderstine and Krissy Wishart will depart to Cardiff, Wales. At the start of May (May 2-10), another U18 team will head to Carquefou, France. this team is coached by Chris Tyrrell and Sofia Walia. The women`s Scottish Cup semi-finalists have produced quality affairs between Premiership top six sides. Edinburgh University face off against Clydesdale Western to be followed by Western Wildcats against Watsonians.

The highlight of the Schoolgirls Hockey calendar commenced today as the top five schools’ teams from across Ireland descended on Three Rock Rovers for the first of two days of the Kate Russell All-Ireland Schoolgirls Championships. An exceptionally tightly contested opening day of the Kate-Russell All-Ireland Schoolgirls Championships saw all five teams compete in two matches, with no more than a single goal separating the sides in each encounter.
