Ladies 4th Team Match Report 26th Sept
Cannock Ladies 4s vs. North Staffs 2s:
The 4s have started in their new league; one higher up than the previous season. We are excited for this challenge and with the aid of a new coach this year, we’re looking forward to the season ahead.
The game was a tough battle what with only 11 players and no subs, and then one being sent to A & E for an injury in the second half. We fought constantly throughout the game and some of the umpires’ decisions were questionable as to what rules apply when a goal is to be acknowledged. However, despite this, the team played defensively, especially with one player down, and surprised the opposition with the level of ‘fight’ we could give which stopped them from achieving in the last 15-20 minutes. Possession was 50-50 in the game, but Cannock, despite the many brilliant passes, were unable to finish off the play with a goal at the end of each run.
The final score was 8-0 to North Staffs. Player of the match vote went to both Becky Chapman and Kim McColl for their fantastic play, team effort and motivation for the game. The opposition’s player of the match vote went to Becky Chapman.
Next week, the 4s are playing at home against Lichfield Ladies 5s.
