Epee Open Fencing Tonight, Fall Tournaments, and Other Quick Updates

0 7

Hey everyone!  I know it’s been a while since I’ve sent something out now that we’re out of season.

Epee Open Fencing on Wednesdays
First for all our epee fencers, in addition to Thursday evening, if you’d like to come out on Wednesday evenings, we have some epee fencers that enjoy other people to fence.  They start open fencing on Wednesday at around 6:45PM.  This isn’t a class, just open epee fencing.

Summer National Championships Congrats!
Congrats to all our fencers that competed in the Summer National Championships in Milwaukee.  I’ve heard they are already looking forward and planning on trying to qualify for next year’s Summer National Championships in Portland, OR.  Olivia also got a chance to take a clinic and meet some of the women’s foil olympians like Lee Kiefer and Lauren Scruggs.

Here’s how we did this year:
Division II Men’s Foil:  Alexander Cantero-Gignac, 223rd place
Division III Men’s Foil:  Alexander Cantero-Gignac, 113th place
Y14 Women’s Foil: Isabella Lee, 226th place
Y12 Women’s Foil:  249th place

PRE-SEASON WARM UP AND FUNDRAISING TOURNAMENT!
On August 30, 2025, we are planning on hosting several tournaments at our club.  This is good for new fencers that haven’t done a competition before and for those veteran fencers getting ready for the season.  But this one is slightly different!  This will be a FUNDRAISING EVENT!  Typical non-sanctioned event fee is $20 per event.  For this event, all referees and staff will be volunteers, and we are kindly asking fencers and families for donations to help purchase electric equipment the kids not only use during practice, but are free to borrow and use for all competitions.  Most clubs do not supply equipment or require rental fee.  Our club equipment is always free to use for competitions for all our fencers.

Here are the events:

9AM:  Y10 Mixed Foil (Boys and Girls, born 2015-2018)
9AM:  Y12 Mixed Foil (Boys and Girls, born 2011-2014)
12PM:  Senior Men’s Foil (Born 2012 or earlier)
1PM:  Senior Women’s Foil (Born 2012 or earlier)
3PM:  Mixed Epee

Help us get set for the new season and have enough equipment for all our competitors for the next season!
