Update 1: Weekend Results and Next Weekend’s Tournament

Congrats to all those that fenced in the Big Blue over the weekend.

Andrew Wiggs fenced in the DIV III Mixed Sabre and placed 11th.

In the Senior Mixed Foil, Coach Gerhard, Alexander, Isabelle, Lily, Holden, and Seth competed. This was Seth’s first Senior event.

Alexander only lost 1 in his pool, and seeded 8th after pools. Isabelle went undefeated in her pools, and seeded 6th after pools. Coach Gerhard only lost 1 in his pools and seeded 9th after pools.

Seth lost 9-15 in his first elimination. All other AAFA fencers got past their first elimination. In the table of 16, unfortunately, Alexander was matched with Coach Gerhard. Coach Gerhard defeated Alexander, but lost in the round of 8.

THIS WEEKEND’S TOURNAMENT – SATURDAY, AUGUST 31, 2024

Youth events: Events start at 9AM, please try to arrive by 8:30AM so we can get all students suited up. With a 9AM start, we anticipate to be done by 12PM. We may combine the two youth events, depending how many people show up.

Teen events: Event starts at 1PM, please try to arrive by 12:30PM so we can get all students suited up. With a 1PM start, we anticipate to be done by 4PM.

All fencers, please try to remember to bring knee high socks and appropriate shoes. We’ll provide the rest. Don’t forget to bring snacks and water too!

All veteran teen fencers, please try to come out to support your new senior fencers. We’d like to have you come out to help them suit up, and coach them during their tournament!
