On Strip/At Home Series: April 2020, 4th Week, Fencing Class

Later this week, I’ll make a post about what we might need to prepare for as US Fencing and North Carolina begins to re-open. It seems like US Fencing will allow us to re-open soon, but North Carolina’s phased re-opening may set us back.

The true story of Hungarian Saber Fencer and Maestro, Jekelfalussy (Piller) György. Piller was the premiere Saber Fencer of his age, winning world championships and Olympic Gold medals. When he retired from fencing he became a highly respected coach, who directed the Hungarian national team to an unprecedented international winning streak. He fled Hungary during the Soviet crack down on his country. He settled in the United States where he introduced a generation to a new style of saber fencing.

Stationary Target Tip:
Another good inexpensive fencing target you can use is a yoga block. If you can find one and mount it, they work great! Also, dog toy monkeys, they work in a pinch as well.

Play With A Tennis Ball!
This creates good hand eye coordination! I’ll have a new exercise next week that will include tennis balls again, get some practice with catching a tennis ball!
