Book review: Constitution Street, by Jemma Neville

0 29
When I was at the marvellous Beyond Borders festival last month, I was given an astonishing gift. It is a book I cannot wholly read called Imagine Human Rights, edited by Andrea Fuchs and Manfred Novak. Featuring artistic responses to the Declaration of Human Rights, it has parts in Mandarin, Arabic, Cyrillic and numerous European languages. It is typographically ingenious, beautifully illustrated and somewhat bemusing. I will, unless I have a year off and dedicate myself to languages I can’t read, never be able to square the translations. In a way, that does not matter: the profusion is the profundity.
