Art reviews: GSA Degree Shows

The paint is still wet in the Stow Building when I visit this year’s GSA undergraduate degree show a couple of days before opening. “Not on the paintings,” my host is quick to clarify, “but I wouldn’t go leaning against any white walls.”After a year of overwhelmingly bad news, GSA is delighted to be opening the doors of the long-intended new home for its Fine Art and MFA students. The former Stow College has been extensively refurbished but is blessed with high ceilings and tall windows on all four sides, making it ideal for an art school. After the more cramped conditions of the Tontine Building on the Trongate, the sense of space is palpable.
