Book review: Varina, by Charles Frazier

I am quite enjoying this recent trend for fictionalising the lives of real-life characters. My favourite still has to be Curtis Sittenfeld’s American Wife, which tells the story of a woman who, although she is given a different name, is based on the wife of George Bush Snr, Laura.
