Theatre interview: Graham Eatough on The Reason I Jump
It’s a special place, North Kelvin Meadow and Children’s Wood in Glasgow. Recently saved from development by a fierce community campaign, it’s a rare semi-wild place in the heart of the city, just south of Maryhill Road; and it’s here that the National Theatre of Scotland and director Graham Eatough are about to stage a unique show that almost had to take us somewhere beautiful and unusual, to help us explore the mind of the extraordinary writer whose work inspired it, a young Japanese man called Naoki Higashida who was diagnosed at an early age with severe non-verbal autism.
