Book review: Waiting For The Last Bus, by Richard Holloway
Richard Holloway is going to die. I, too, am going to die, and so, dear reader, are you. Holloway’s new book is a plangent and profound meditation on the ultimate inevitability. It is also a book with a great deal of care in it, which reminded me frequently of the Christian Aid slogan “we believe in life before death”. A fine sentiment, a moral priority – but, as Holloway observes, we are the only species that seems to be sentient about our own mortality.
