Brian Ferguson: The latest festivals funding saga will run and run

Navigating Edinburgh and its August festivals every day for the best part of the month is certainly not for the faint-hearted. To be a working journalist at the centre of it can be hard going, although probably not nearly as energy-sapping as working long hours in a venue or appearing in a show for three-and-a-half weeks. But for those of us covering the full range of festivals, with the volume of shows, venues and audiences all on the increase year after year, it is no surprise it can be testing to keep on top of everything that is going on. Little wonder, then, at my despair at trying to get to the bottom of what appeared to be one of the most important news stories of the festivals season.
