Edinburgh International Festival: RSNO need no set to light Valkyrie’s fire
When the economic downturn came, opera, it seemed, was first up against the wall at the Edinburgh International Festival. Yet in this 70th anniversary year, Festival Director Fergus Linehan has miraculously pulled out all the stops to revitalise the dwindling opera programme with four staged operas and an additional plethora in concert at the Usher Hall, making a programme to truly get your teeth into.
