Smarty Jones Son Graded Win at Parx

0

CaryStreetThe Labor Day holiday was a superior day of racing at Parx, and included the co-featured Smarty Jones S. And what could make it better but a win by a SMARTY JONES son in his own graded stakes!

Making his stakes debut in the marathon mile and a half Gr. 3 Greenwood Cup S., CARY STREET got a ground-saving trip in the 10-horse field and dueled to the line to win by a length.

The 5-year-old, bred in Kentucky by Darley, is owned by JBL Thoroughbreds LLC and Walsh Racing LLC and trained by Brendan Walsh, who claimed the gelding for $10,000 in February 2013. This year alone, CARY STREET has won or placed in six of seven starts and has earned $180,165.

SMARTY JONES is the sire of 10 stakes horses in 2014, among them Gr. 1 Panama winner SMART D N A and veteran stakes performer ISN’T HE CLEVER, who has been on the board in all six of his starts this year while pushing his lifetime earnings to $644,085. Later in the day on Sept. 1, ISN’T HE CLEVER hit the board in the Ruidoso Downs Thoroughbred Championship H., his fourth stakes win or placing in his last five starts!

Fulfilling expectations - SMARTY JONES, Pennsylvania’s favorite son, siring winners on the Pennsylvania’s biggest racing days!
