Update from Amanda Gallacher, Treasurer
My role within the club is the treasurer, paying bills, and making sure we are solvent by the end of the year, and helping out behind the scenes to enable us to run the competitions and training clinics – I am always more than happy to pick up poles or set out the dressage boards! I have been with the club for 6 years and on the committee for 5 years.
Previously, I had a fantastic mare (above photo) that I did everything with but sadly, she was retired last year. I now have a young 5-year-old Connie x TB who needs to learn about life (photo below). The club is providing us with a great start to our partnership.
Colleen has looked after us with dressage and pole clinics, getting us ready to compete in the dressage competition at Comeytrowe, and Julie has provided several jump clinics for us without us needing to leave the ground! We are just getting to the stage of putting a few small jumps together, and Julie provided a great session at Pontispool, looking at the jumps and providing me with the confidence to try some of the smaller ones. Next year, we expect to move to prelim dressage once we have conquered the canter transition and maybe even complete a whole showjumping course!
I’m not the bravest of riders, but the club helps and supports me in so many ways. I love the clinics and always leave having exceeded my expectations. The instructors are carefully picked and are there to provide support while meeting all the participants’ needs and requirements – pretty difficult when we are at different levels on an animal that is not always listening!
