Outstanding Result As Espiona Sells For $4.15m

0 2

Yesterday’s sale of Espiona for $4.15 million was truly an outstanding result for all concerned. Any person who participates in the thoroughbred racing industry would appreciate that these types of results do not occur every day of the week.

There are a myriad of people who have contributed to yesterday’s outcome and deserve to be recognised.

To begin with, Espiona’s breeders, the Cornish family, and Francis and Christine Cook. Mel Copelin and her team at Torryburn for raising and then preparing her for the yearling sale. Star Thoroughbreds Denise Martin who purchased her as a yearling, and Star’s clients who had faith in the yearling selection team (Denise, Ross Alexander, Emma Cully, and yours truly) and purchased a share in her. Chris Waller and his dedicated staff for expertly managing her racing career.

The team at Magic Millions, who left no stone unturned in their marketing and promotion of Espiona leading up to the auction, as well as their ultra skillful handling of the auction itself. The Glenesk Thoroughbreds team, my wife Rachael, and Laura Thomson, for putting the finishing touches on this wonderful mare. Plus, the dozens of other people who have played an undeniable role in giving Espiona every opportunity to shine on the racetrack. The spelling farms, pre-trainers, vets, farriers, her work riders, race day jockeys, etc.

A monumental thank you to the Yulong team (Yuesheng Zhang, Zhijun Zhao, Vin Cox, and Sam Fairgray) for purchasing her. And an honourable mention and big thank you to Arrowfield Stud (John Messara and Jon Freyer) for their determined attempt to purchase her at the auction.

And finally, the lion’s share of the credit goes to Espiona. Without her athleticism and her tenacious will to win, yesterday’s result does not take place. Our admiration for her is boundless!
