Ons Vier looking for a hat-trick this Friday

Local trainer Joseph Ible’s current stable star, Ons Vier is looking for a hat-trick of wins at Canberra this Friday.

Ible was recommended to buyer Ben O’Brien, who has bought a bevy of vocal, first time owners with him and the mare, and has since proven her worth on the Acton track.  Her first start in Canberra since the partnership, was on the synthetic track, and just happened to be the TAB Federal, which gave Ible his second Federal win.

“I was quietly confident” Ible said of the mare’s first start.  She was in full work when she arrived at Canberra, so I freshened her up and tried a few new things, including removing the ear muffs, which has obviously worked in her favour”.

The 5yo mare by Star Witness is primed for her next start this Friday when she will run at her ideal distance in the Benchmark 60 over 1400m and back on the turf.  Her maiden win with previous trainer Steve Hill (Kembla Grange) was over the same distance.

“She is the best she has been all preparation and the distance suits her” Ible said.

At this stage Ible is taking the mare race by race, but a tilt at the TAB Federal Tony Campbell Memorial Cup is not out of the question.  “She is getting more confident and could be aimed at the Narooma or Moruya Cups”.

Spokesperson for the owners, O’Brien is excited for his mates who have a share in the mare.  “When she crossed that finishing post first up it felt like we had won the Bathurst 1000, a feeling you cant describe”.  He said.  “And scoring the back to back win was even more exciting”.   The support for her is growing and we hope she can find the line.
