While she unfortunately never managed to claim an Olympic medal, the 35-year-old won one gold and two silver medals in European Championships as well as a silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

However, this time around she was the talk of the town while appearing on the BBC for their coverage of the Olympics this morning.

Couch, who retired in 2018, stole the show in a sleeveless black dress.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “Think I’ve fallen in love with Tonia Couch, what a dream.”

A second said: “Tonia Couch. Class.”

A third added: “Tonia Couch. Bloody hell.”

Praise for her was also forthcoming from friends and family on Instagram, with Couch sharing some posts highlighting her appearance to her story.

One said: “Came home to this beauty on my TV. How incredible you look girl.”

A second said: “Auntie Tonia smashing it up.”

Another said:” Kind, beautiful and talented all-round amazing human, you are smashing it.”

Couch, who is originally from Plymouth, has almost 60,000 followers on Instagram.

And it seems she may have been a good luck charm in Paris as well.

She saw diving duo Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen collect Team GB’s first medal of the games after finishing third in the women’s synchronised 3m springboard.

The Brits won bronze following an error from Australia‘s Anabelle Smith, marking the first Olympic medal for Great Britain in women’s diving for 64 years.

Reacting to the achievement following her appearance, Couch posted on Instagram: “First day working with the @bbc and our girls won a medal !!!!! How exciting.”
