Razorbacks Off to a Great Start at U.S. Open in Des Moines

DES MOINES, IOWA- The Arkansas Swimming and Diving team got off to a great start at the Toyota U.S. Open in Des Moines, Iowa. On Thursday, Peyton Palsha won the 800m freestyle event and secured an Olympic Trials qualifying time at 8:47.63. Palsha kept the momentum going this morning by winning the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:15.91. In the 200m individual medley, Adela Vavrinova set a new personal best with a time of 2:17.95 and Vanessa Herrmann set a season best with a time of 2:21.62. Emily Barclay, Kobie Melton, Molly Moore, and Andrea Sansores all competed in the 50m freestyle and all set best times for this season. Emily Barclay won the event with a time of 25.25.

In the evening events, Palsha continued her great day by setting a new personal best in the 400m individual medley with a time of 4:53.65. Vanessa Herrmann continued the Razorbacks’ great performance by setting a new school record, a new personal best and an Olympic Trials cut time in the 100m breast with a time of 1:09.36. Adela Vavrinova secured a new personal best in the 200m free with a time of 2:05.28. Kobie Melton also set a new personal best in the 100m fly with a time of 1:01.58. Andrea Sansores capped off the great night with a new personal best in the 100m back with a time of 1:03.73.
