[Swimming & Diving] Adam, Madison and Krupitzer lead the Bees at NAIA Championships

The St. Ambrose men finished ninth and the Bee women were 11th at the NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. They marked the highest team finishes at Nationals for SAU since the program was started in 2017-18.

Andrea Adam, Taylor Madison and Kevin Krupitzer led St. Ambrose.

Adam and Madison continued their dominance in the diving events. Adam won her fifth and sixth national titles, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter dives for the third straight season. She scored a 249.70 in the 1-meter dive and a 256.20 in the 3-meter. Madison was nearly equally as impressive, finishing as runner-up to Adam in both events with scores of 228.75 and 207.35, respectively.

For her efforts, Adam was named the NAIA Women's Diver of the Year for the third straight time.

Krupitzer was an All-American in two events. He placed seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 55.86 seconds. He also took eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:06.56.

Four men's relay teams earned All-American recognition as well, with Krupitzer competing in two of the four.

Quincy Walker, Krupitzer, Rais Hassim and Caleb Gaylor took fifth in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:26.21. Gaylor, Petter Kolaas, Victor Del Rio Foces and Reece Powell were sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:24.75. Both the 400-yard freestyle relay team (Del Rio Foces, Gaylor, Ryan Warrick and Hassim, 3:08.19) and the 200-yard medley relay team (Gabe Carlson, Krupitzer, Hassim and Powell, 1:34.64) placed seventh.

A fifth relay - the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Kolaas, Justin Fales, Leo Edwards and Hassim - took 12th in 7:00.22.

Hassim just missed out on an individual All-American finish as he took ninth in the 100-yard butterfly in 50.60 seconds. He also was 14th in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:54.08.

Ryan Joehl touched the wall in 1:54.03 to place 11th in the 200-yard backstroke. Gaylor was 13th in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.31 seconds. Walker finished 15th in the 100-yard backstroke in 53.08 seconds.

For the women, Emily Hartman (4:44.43) took 12th in the 400-yard individual medley and Bethany Anderson (1:00.87) was 15th in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Bee women also scored in three relays.

Adam, Catie Schimmelpfenning, Francesca Walker-Rozo and Kelly Baughman placed 13th in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:42.39. Anderson, Molly Sullivan, Walker-Rozo and Schimmelpfenning were 14th in the 400-yard medley relay in 4:10.15. And Anderson, Sullivan, Hartman and Baughman took 14th in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 8:13.84.
