Campus watch: Niskayuna graduate Gervasio going strong for Marist swim team

Junior Esabelle Gervasio is on her way toward another big finish diving for the Marist women's swim team.

The junior from Niskayuna and a Niskayuna High graduate was named Diver of the Meet as the Red Foxes posted a 4-1 record at the H2Ounds Invitational prior to the semester break on Dec. 6-7 in Baltimore, Md. She won the 1-meter with a score of 261.60 and the 3-meter with a 246.20 total.

Gervasio was 11-for-11 in the 1-meter dive last season and that included victories in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship and the ECAC Championship. She was defending champion in both meets. And, she was first in the ECAC and second in the MAAC in the 3-meter dive last season.

Gervasio will be vying for a three-peat in the 1-meter at the MAAC Championship (Feb. 12-15 in Buffalo) and the ECAC Championship (Feb. 28-March 1 in Annapolis, Md.)

Justin Rohrwasser (Clifton Park)

The red-shirt senior saw his college career end when the Marshall football team dropped a 48-25 decision to Central Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl on Dec. 23 in Tampa, Fla. The Catholic Central graduate had a 50-yard field goal and two extra points in the game. He led the 8-5 Herd in scoring with 89 points, hitting 18 of 21 field goals and connecting on 35 of 36 extra points. A Rhode Island transfer, Rohrwasser finished his two-year career with Marshall with 178 points on 33 field goals and 79 extra points.

Sophomore Xavier Washington and freshmen Jamie Cocca of West Sand Lake and A. J.
