[Swimming & Diving] St. Ambrose takes duals at St. Mary
St. Ambrose returned to the pool and picked up dual wins at the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kan., Friday night.
The SAU men cruised to a 150-44 win while the women earned a 99-89 victory.
The men won eight individual events and both relays. All eight individual events were won by different Bees.
Petter Kolaas won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.05 seconds. Teammate Ryan Warrick was second in 22.34 seconds. Warrick was also second in the 100-yard freestyle with his time of 49.30 seconds.
Ryan Joehl, Reece Powell and Aaron Roberts finished 1-2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle. Joehl touched first in 1:51.48 with Powell (1:54.04) and Roberts (1:59.89) right behind.
Justin Fales and Isaac Garcia finished 1-2 in the 500-yard and 1650-yard freestyle events. Fales won the 500 in 4:57.69 with Garcia second in 5:09.22. In the 1650, it was Garcia winning in 17:37.16 and Fales taking second in 17:48.79.
The Bees finished first and second in three other events. Brandon Anderson touched the wall in 57.13 seconds to edge Leo Edwards (59.21 seconds) in the 100-yard backstroke. Kevin Krupitzer won the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.45 seconds and Kolaas was runner-up in 1:00.69. Krupitzer also took second in the 200-yard individual medley with Rais Hassim winning the event in 2:00.00.
Reece Powell was the other St. Ambrose winner, taking the 100-yard butterfly in 53.84 seconds. Gabe Carlson was third.
Keagan Dolphin, Fales, Garcia and Hassim won the 800-yard freestyle relay in 7:27.63. Warrick, Edwards, Joehl and Anderson were second. Carlson, Krupitzer, Hassim and Powell combined to win the 400-yard medley relay in 3:40.97, with Joehl, Kolaas, Anderson and Zac Robinson taking second.
