Mane haunts Guardiola over diver accusations by scoring incredible diving header in Liverpool clash with Man City

SADIO MANE came up with the perfect reply to Pep Guardiola accusing him of being a diver – by scoring a diving header.

The Liverpool star flew in at the back post to score the Reds’ third against Manchester City.

Sadio Mane dived in the right way as he scored Liverpool’s third after being booked for simulation against Villa

And with their side heading eight points clear of second-placed Leicester after 12 games, Reds fans were quick to twist the knife.

One wrote: “To be fair, that was a lovely dive for the header from Mane.”

And another quipped: “Pep after the game: that was a clear dive by mane for the goal. Should have been disallowed”.

Plenty of others called for a swan dive celebration in front of the Citizens chief, with a gleeful supporter tweeting: “I’m disappointed that Mané didn’t do the Suarez dive in front of Pep tho… there’s still time.”

Minutes later, Mane pushed Raheem Sterling in the back inside the Liverpool box, sending the City man to the deck.

There was definite contact but some supporters accused their former flier of diving, an accusation he has had to live with for much of his career.

Guardiola’s claims about Mane’s theatrics came after the Senegalese international was booked for diving in the win over Aston Villa.

But his pre-match comments backfired as Mane met James Milner’s cross after Fabinho and Mo Salah had put the Reds in a commanding lead.

Both goals were controversial amid claims Trent Alexander-Arnold should have conceded a penalty in the build-up to the opener and Salah was offside for the second.
