Harry Kane insists he’s not a diver after Tottenham captain’s late effort to win penalty against Arsenal
HARRY KANE insists he is no diver.
Arsenal defender Sokratis was furious when Kane claimed a penalty when he was brought down by Sokratis in the 85th minute of a pulsating North London derby.
Ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville accused the Spurs and England striker of diving.
But Kane insisted: “The defender made a tired tackle and if that had happened on the halfway line I think it’s a definite foul.
“The ref probably thinks I was looking for it but he came through the back of me.
“It was 50-50 but VAR would probably have backed the ref in this anyway.”
Neville said it was “essentially a dive” from Kane, who netted a first-half penalty for his TENTH goal in a North London derby.
Neville’s fellow Sky pundit Graeme Souness said: “I think Kane is looking for a penalty. He is waiting to go down.
“The defender has got his hands on his back but that kind of contact would not justify that fall.”
Jamie Redknapp added: “Harry was looking for a penalty. He uses his body as well as any striker.”
