Let’s Get To Know Malaysia’s New Diving Princess Nur Dhabitah Sabri
She is more than just a pretty face.
Recently, 19-year-old Nur Dhabitah Sabri made us proud by winning third place at the prestigious FINA Diving World Series (DWS) in London. She took home the bronze medal in the three-metre springboard final with a score of 344.40 among six other contestants. First place went to Maddison Keeney of Australia (368.30) while Canada’s Jennifer Abel (353.05) was second. DWS is an exclusive diving competition held annually where the invitations are reserved for only the top-ranked athletes from all over the globe. Her name has made the history books as she is the first Malaysian podium finisher in the women’s 3m springboard individual ever since the establishment of DWS in 2007. What an inspiration, right?
Nur Dhabitah began her career as a swimmer first and then switched to diving as her father felt her small physique was more suited to the latter. The petite diver is no stranger to the limelight having participated in several major sports events such as the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Hungary, 2015 FINA World Championship in Russia and 2014 Commonwealth Games in the United Kingdom.
