Martial told he looks like a salmon and slammed for dive in Man Utd’s loss at Everton
ANTHONY MARTIAL was accused of diving like a “salmon” as fans found plenty to carp about in Manchester United’s 4-0 thumping at Everton.
The striker’s antics were a red herring in the bigger picture of United‘s sixth defeat in eight games – but fans still leapt in to slate Martial for his high-flying theatrics.
At least the 23-year-old really took off – which was more than his team did at any stage during their fifth and worst away loss in a row.
Armchair viewers waded in to blast Martial for throwing himself over arms aloft, after he failed to shake off Everton full-back Seamus Coleman.
Frenchman Martial twisted up and ended up on his backside, much like United themselves in a shocking display.
One fan posted: “3,2,1, Houston we have lift off”.
Another extended the frontman’s name to Anthony “Salmon” Martial and a third said: “I’m laughing harder than I should.”
But Martial was also tipped as a future trophy winner, albeit on screen, not on the pitch, in this message: “Oscar worthy, right there.”
