[Women's Swimming and Diving] Gretna swimmer headed to CSM next fall

OMAHA, Neb. – Zian Cox is headed to College of Saint Mary in the fall. The Gretna, Neb., resident signed her letter of intent to continue her education and swim for the Flames.

The daughter of Michael and Sasha Cox is currently a senior at Gretna High School.

CSM Coach Cole Malin is looking forward to having Cox on his squad.

"I am extremely excited to have Zian join the swim team next year," Malin said. "She has an awesome personality and work ethic. She will bring some great depth to our freestyle events."

Cox has swam for Gretna all four years of high school and went to state in the 200-yard freestyle in 2016. In 2019 she was the alternate at state for the team's 200 medley relay.

She says her favorite sports hero is Katie Ledecky and lists her favorite hobbies as reading, listening to music and hanging out with friends.

Cox plans to study early childhood education at College of Saint Mary.

"I chose CSM because it has a great education program and has lot to offer me," Cox said. "I will also get to be part of the swim team and continue my passion for swimming for a few more years."
